| Duties: |
Provide technical support and leadership in the development of diverse SATCOM and government communication network systems. Candidate will be responsible for developing and conducting network analysis trades using analysis, modeling, simulation, and hardware testbeds. Additionally, the candidate should have sufficient background to provide technical leadership on topics covering diverse communication and network areas including Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), Internet Protocol versions 4 and 6 (IPv4/IPv6), multicast, mobility, dynamic resource allocation, IP Security (IPsec), network security, and routing. Responsibilities include leading or participating in: system trade-off studies for various designs or protocols, validation of network system requirements, and providing programmatic recommendations on network architectures and solutions based on technical performance assessments. Candidate will be expected to provide: project leadership, oversight for junior engineers, and development of future projects. The position is in Chantilly, Virginia. |
| Qualifications: |
MS or Ph.D. in computer science or electrical engineering. At least 8 years experience is required. Strong technical background in communication networks and system integration is required. In-depth understanding of the characteristics of IP-based traffic, its mathematical representations, and modeling techniques are desired. Experience with various network protocols (OSI Layers 2 and 3) related to resource management, mobility management, routing, and Quality of Service (QoS) is highly desirable. Hands-on experience in developing network testbed and emulations is desirable. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously is required. Knowledge of government acquisition practices is helpful. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to interact well with customers and contractor personnel is essential. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. Current SSBI is required. |
