Position Description

Job Title: Process Materials & Parts Engineer

Duties: Provide technical support to launch vehicle and satellite programs in the area of space level parts, materials and processes engineering, including semiconductor, passive, hybrid and electromechanical electronic materials, packaging, assembly and other space processes. Provide in depth expertise as needed in the selection, test, qualification, application, and failure analysis/resolution of one or more component engineering specialty areas with breadth across other electronic PMP related to space. Support standardization initiatives (creation and review of specifications; review of supplier test data and optimizations; participation in industry technical coordination meetings). Interface with NASA and other agencies. Perform supplier audits to ensure quality of the supplier base. Interface with space contractors on PMP issues and participate in Parts, Materials and Processes Control Board meetings as the government representative, leading or sharing PMP program management oversight responsibility. In addition to specific technical support for the noted PMP commodities, it is expected that some general systems review activity will be required in support of Mission Assurance Teams and Independent Readiness Review. Some travel expected.
Qualifications: BS in Engineering or similar background, advanced degree preferred. Five years of experience required. In depth expertise in space program PMP engineering including PMP program management, preventative and proactive tasks, space procurement practices/issues, as well as expertise in PMP risk assessment and resolution management required. In-depth expertise in at least one component technology specialty area with extensive breadth across other PMP required. Understanding of radiation hardness issues, manufacturing techniques, qualification and screening, and uses of space PMP, including typical failure mechanisms and other problems required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Ability to work independently and in teams. Ability to interface effectively with program offices in a proactive manner is essential. Ability to obtain a SBI required.
