Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Water Resources Engineer in our San Diego, CA office. The position will work with a collaborative team of civil engineers & geologists who focus on water quality monitoring program design & implementation, water resources and sustainability planning, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, water quality modeling, BMP design, post-fire hazard assessment and hydrology, erosion and sediment control, municipal, industrial, and construction site NPDES permitting support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Perform and review hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling for small and large watersheds;
  • Plan and design of water resources projects including watershed planning, drainage improvements, best management practices (BMPs), erosion and sediment control, and stream rehabilitation/restoration;
  • Prepare and oversee engineering computations including engineering drawings and technical specifications;
  • Support projects driven by the CA Construction General Permit (CGP), CA Industrial General Permit (IGP), and local Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) Permits;
  • Conduct inspections, write reports, and prepare of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Water Quality Improvement Plans (WQIPs), and Waste Discharge Requirement (WDR) permits;
  • Prepare and review technical documents including both writing and the creation of visual exhibits and maps;
  • Act as assistant project manager and support proposal development, budgeting, scheduling, scope control, delegation;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients while working in concert with both senior professionals and technical staff.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and,
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer license (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as HydroCAD, EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (required)
  • Experience related to NPDES/MS4 permitting, CGP and IGP compliance (QSD or QISP), erosion and sediment control BMPs, and BMP design. (preferred)
  • Experience conducting field investigations related to stormwater or erosion control. (preferred)
  • Strong technical writing, project management, and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience in managing a project or task-level budget of at least $25k. (preferred)
  • Experience in scoping, cost estimating, and scheduling. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $93,875/year / Maximum Salary: $140,870/year (San Diego)
