What you'll do

Do you dream of working at the intersection of government contracting and efficient financial management? In this role, you'll be a key player ensuring accurate and timely government billing. You'll collaborate with finance and contracts teams to navigate US government program requirements, master billing intricacies under various contract types (firm fixed price, cost-plus, progress, and time & materials), and utilize complex billing portals. Your skills in account reconciliation and resolving discrepancies will be crucial, as will your ability to assist with government audits and finalize billing for the US government and its customers. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to analyze current processes and implement improvements for greater efficiency and uniformity.


The day-to-day

  • Prepare and submit government billing for firm fixed price, cost plus, progress billings and T&M type invoices.
  • Collaborate with Viasat business area finance directors and the Viasat contracts department on US government program requirements.
  • Evaluate and apply appropriate billing requirements in accordance with the US Federal Acquisition Regulation and Cost Accounting Standards as well as other contractual clauses and submit invoices through the use of various complex billing portals.
  • Collect on past due invoices.
  • Complete account reconciliations and process credits or adjustments as needed.
  • Assist on governmental audits including testing and other audit procedures.
  • Prepare final billing to the US government and related customers.
  • Help assess current internal processes and introduce new effective, efficient, and uniform processes.
  • Process final close out invoices.
  • Identify unapplied cash receipts.
  • Follow up on past due invoices.
  • Reconcile accounts and make adjustments as needed.

What you'll need

  • 5+ years accounting, finance, or relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Heavy prior experience in billing
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner and build relationships with others within and outside the accounting team
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with ability to balance and prioritize competing demands
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • U.S. Citizenship

What will help you on the job

  • ERP system experience (Oracle preferred)
  • Prior experience in government billing
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Salary range

$55,400.00 - $96,400.00 / annually
