As a Financial Analyst you will be responsible for assisting in preparation of the monthly forecast and annual budget, manage Executive level reporting, and support the Merchandising and Finance leadership team. Additionally, this individual will provide ad hoc analyses for organizations within Petco. You will assist in financial analysis and modeling to assist the business in meeting its financial goals. The perfect individual for this opportunity is meticulous, holds a desire to solve problems and efficiently delivers quality work.

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with finance and business teams to provide accurate and timely executive level reporting.

  • Build partnerships with business leaders to provide planning and analysis support and ensure teams are on track to deliver financial goals.

  • Assist with preparation of weekly and monthly reporting for organizations within Petco.

  • Proactively develop value-added analyses to improve current processes from both an operational and strategic viewpoint.

  • Interface with the finance and business leads to confirm assumptions used for budgeting and forecasting.

Required Skills:

A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience operating in a highly analytical FP&A or business finance role, as well as:

  • Self-starter and ability to manage projects independently.

  • Analytical and quantitative; comfortable building advanced models and maintaining complex reporting.

  • Demonstrated expertise in leveraging financial and analytical systems to solve problems.

  • Excellent people skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for innovation and simplification to drive efficiency.

  • Detail oriented, strong organization skills with the ability to maintain and keep track of multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including strong Excel and PowerPoint skills).

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Basic GAAP Accounting knowledge.

Essential Job Functions:

The partner must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Administer process to gather, prioritize and execute requests for changes and/or enhancements to HR systems. Collaborate with stakeholders to provide essential project management activities for large- and small-scale projects including feasibility, timeframes, cost, requirements definition, staffing requirements, design, testing, training, implementation and maintenance.

  • Lead and support projects using various project management methodologies such as waterfall, agile and scrum project management. Communicate and report progress in standard PMI and Petco mechanisms to IT, Project Management Office, executive management and project stakeholders. Be able to track projects and understand when projects are at risk and take action to correct them.

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and management of HR system integrations and functional specs related to system development.

  • Analyze existing business processes and applications and develop innovative solutions to maximize efficiency and usability while considering the technical, business and human objectives.

  • Develop information-reporting requirements, specifications and user reporting capabilities to extract data for a wide range of human resources reporting and for leader decision-making.

  • Leverage data from multiple databases to analyze and identify trends while providing statistical summaries for manager and executive partners (i.e., key HR metrics, diversity reporting, retention analysis, etc.) in various forms (i.e., graphs, dashboards, scorecards, etc.).

  • Design and implement processes, documentation and controls to ensure high standard of data integrity and analytical reporting without compromising a comprehensive and integrated design. Provide recommendations and direction on HR system related practices and procedures, policy interpretations, exceptions to policy, problem resolution and formal root cause analysis.

  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests. Serve as an interface between HR, IT and other functional areas to ensure effective definition and delivery of HRIS applications and technical integrations.

  • Gather, analyze, document and communicate business requirements taking into account the technical, business and human needs. Prepare and plan projects with the input from all stakeholders. Manage vendor solutions for fit, quality and schedule. Configure and test software solutions.

  • Work with both on and offshore development in an operations and strategic capacity to design, test and implement software solutions.

  • Ensure all activities comply with international federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience including a minimum 2 years in HR and 5 years in Workday HRIS. Prior experience in system implementation and upgrade highly preferred.

  • Previous HRIS project management experience utilizing Agile, Scrum and waterfall methodologies and vendor management preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of data analytics, configuration, Query tools, SQR, Crystal, Excel and Access.

  • Advanced analytical ability to review data and see relationships and patterns as well as communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
