Gas Turbine Technician

Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is looking for a qualified Gas Turbine Technician (Mechanical) to join our Team as an On-Site Representative. As the Gas Turbine Technician you will repair and perform organizational, intermediate, and depot level maintenance on gas turbine engines and associated systems. You will provide onsite technical support for Marine Gas Turbine Engine Systems (MGTES) support for DDG 1000 Flight III, and Hybrid Electric Drives.

Contract Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support that includes troubleshooting, test, inspection, and repair of ships, in their construction phases, located at a shipbuilder's facility or forward deployed.
  • Provide technical support at waterfront or shipyard, including inspections and troubleshooting.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support as well as perform "I "-level repairs conducted during deployments, including troubleshooting of engines, gearboxes and controls.
  • Provide engine/system training, including instructing new personnel on inspection/repairs of the engines/systems.
  • Conduct cold checks of equipment condition and parameters for out of specification settings.
  • Observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance, where possible.
  • Evaluate the findings of the cold checks and operational checks and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
  • Attend meetings, conferences etc. as required.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of approved gas turbine equipment configuration changes and support the development and implementation of gas turbine system engineering solutions to reduce maintenance, repair and/or operational costs and/or to improve equipment reliability.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • High school diploma.
  • Gas Turbine Mechanic training qualification (possess one of the following):
    • US Navy Gas Turbine Systems Mechanic (GSM) Gas Turbine Mechanical Common Core course rating,
    • US Navy Marine Gas Turbine Inspector certification,
    • Original equipment manufacturer gas turbine training or maintenance certificate,
    • Airframe & Power Plant Mechanics License.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in performing maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and removal of gas turbine and associated systems on DDG 1000 class of ships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and possess the ability to learn.
  • Able to follow procedures and execute sequenced work instructions from written and/or verbal communications.
  • Must be a team player who exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism in all situations
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and standing.
  • Work safely, following government policies, procedures and work practices in a positive, cooperative, and productive manner.
