Responsibilities

TRC is a global consulting firm providing environmentally advanced and technology-powered solutions for the natural gas, oil, infrastructure, power, real-estate and environmental industries. We are seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor with either an LSIT and a minimum of 5 years- experience- or a Registered Professional Land Surveyor License is required. Remote Sensing Experience is a plus, including FAA Certifications for Part 107 Remote sUAS Drone Pilot, Terrestrial HDS Laser scanning or Hydrographic Survey certifications.

Candidates licensed in California will be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Should be familiar with professional survey standards, codes, and survey related procedures for conducting land surveying survey services.
  • Will be expected to review project requirements for survey services and participate in the development and implementation of strategies for the execution of survey activities needed to meet the projects requirements.
  • Should be capable of executing survey strategies which include but are not limited to preparing a description of the scope of work to be performed, guiding and directing survey personnel, preparing and executing to budgets, time schedules and the ability to identifying key survey tasks necessary for the completion of survey activities.
  • Will be required to assist with, the preparation and perform to established budgets.
  • Should be competent in the management of change and provide feedback in reflecting the estimated costs of completion during various stages of a project.
  • May be asked to manage and providing supervision of survey personnel.
  • Should be competent in identifying and executing survey strategies to meet key survey and project objectives.
  • Duties may include performing to a schedule, including but not limited to permitting schedules or other key project milestones and including seeking the outside inputs as necessary to complete the survey activities, such as obtaining copies of documents, records, and reports.
  • Must be proficient in obtaining and researching necessary records, documenting survey activities, and preparing procedures for surveying activities.
  • Should be able to identify and control changes in work scope, actively document and report scope changes.
  • Will interact with safety, provide emergency response, as needed and in accordance with prescribed TRC standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for successfully carrying out project Execution Plans including managing the scope of work, maintaining, and updating the project schedules, managing and updating project budgets and managing project personnel.
  • Requests assignment of personnel (by classification and number) and equipment needed to carry out the required survey activities.
  • Orients survey personnel, as they are assigned, on TRC Values, safety, survey policies and procedures, and project schedule. Assigns tasks to each survey personnel and explains the requirements for documentation of those tasks. Ensures survey personnel are capable of performing their assigned tasks. Monitors the survey personnel's performance of activities, completion of documentation, personal conduct, work ethics, and interface with others.
  • Monitors the overall survey tasks for compliance to project requirements. Identifies changes in work scope, variance in scheduled completion or budgeted costs. Implements the necessary actions to incorporate work changes and if possible, maintain progress schedules and budgeted costs Document any required changes in schedules and budgeted costs as a result of work scope changes.
  • Reviews survey data for completeness and accuracy
  • Monitors documentation control and filing systems to assure the ready storage and retrieval of project documents, records, and reports.
  • Maintains close communications with the Project Manager, Survey Director and Client Representative to report survey progress, problems with and possible resolution to pertinent issues hampering project survey completion.
  • Ensure the review of all survey personnel time and expense reports for completeness, accuracy, and approval.
  • At project completion, supervises the preparation and submission, to the Survey Director Client Representative, of the complete documentation for all survey activities performed into a project completion package.

Salary is commensurate with experience and certifications.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ABET accredited survey curriculum with BS. Degree in Land Surveying preferred.
  • Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) with 5-years' experience or Registered Professional Land Surveyor License required.
  • Willing to obtain additional license(s) during employment with TRC required.
  • Minimum experience required is five years surveying experience with previous supervisory assignments.
  • Remote Sensing Experience is a plus, including FAA Certifications for Part 107 Remote sUAS Drone Pilot, Terrestrial HDS Laser scanning or Hydrographic Survey certifications.

COMPENSATION:

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $120k - $150k. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must have the ability to walk several miles a day, sometimes in rough terrain, in order to supervise the activities in the field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Although, this position is primarily an office or work from home position, candidates may be required to attend TRC activities, conduct field surveys, travel to and from project sites, courthouses, client sites and other similar industry requirements.
  • Outdoor environment. Must be able to perform job duties in a variety of terrain ranging from swamps to deserts to forests to mountains and extreme climates, including weather, ranging from -10 degrees and snowing to 110 degrees desert heat. Will likely be exposed to a variety of plants (poison ivy, oak, and sumac) and creatures such as bears, snakes, spiders, insects, and other wildlife.
